About Me

At 3 months old I started taking swimming lessons at the Circulo Social Camilo Cienfuegos, a local pool in Vedado, Havana, Cuba. My instructor was Bebito Smith who won several gold medals in the Central American Games. I was the youngest baby who learned how to swim in Cuba. At 4 years old I attended the Camilo Cienfuegos pool complex and later I attended the Ciudad Libertad General School of Sports. I remained a swimmer until the age of 11. Through those years I participated in several national swimming competitions at Baragua pool complex, Marcelo Salado swimming School, Marti Park and The Abreu Fontan Club among others. At that age of 11 I already knew all the swimming styles: freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly stroke, backstroke and swimming underwater. As an individual competitor I won 2 gold medals in backstroke, a silver medal in freestyle and several titles when competing in the synchronized swimming team.

I came to the US at the age of 21. Soon I became a certified lifeguard and worked in public schools swimming events and tournaments. Living in Florida and learning that drowning is the leading cause of injury death among children ages 1-4 in this state making it the highest in the nation, really impacted me. As a children lover I knew I could use my skills to help save lives. This is when I decided to pursue my WSI (Water Safety Instructor) Certificate. Since then I have dedicate myself to teach babies how to swim.

I look forward to teach your child from the basics swimming to the most advanced and intricate techniques in todays swimming schools.
